Pulse transformers are designed to transmit voltage pulses (most commonly rectangular) between its windings and onto the load.
They can be used for signal transmission, low-powered control circuits and switched-mode power supplies (in high-power applications).
Typical features of a Pulse Transformer include a high-permeability core, low leakage inductance & low inter-winding capacitance which enable it to achieve its main purpose i.e. high fidelity pulse transformation.
The major uses of pulse transformers are radar transmitters and linear accelerators. Pulse transformers supply an output pulse that accurately matches the input poser pulse. These units generally have a low duty cycle with a high peak power and low average power, a specified repetition rate and controlled duration and shape. QTE is familiar with high power pulse modulators and their associated magnetics including DE-Q circuits, resonant charging inductors, PFN coils, etc.
